WELCOME TO LURE OF THE DRAGONS
The 1st annual dragon boat race
and festival
at beautiful Lake Lure, North Carolina
MAY 10, 2008.
Location
Designated by National Geographic as one of the most beautiful man-made
lakes in the world, you could not find a more gorgeous and inspiring
setting for a dragon boat race and festival. Set in the foothills of
the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, Lake Lure and the Hickory Nut Gorge
area are a major tourist attraction in western North Carolina any season.

Don’t miss
the boat!
Form a team or come and watch. Either way, you’ll see why dragon
boat racing is the fastest growing water sport in the world! It’s
a sport for both the young and old, the occasional calorie burner, or
the weekend warrior. All teams will have a chance to learn and practice
the basics of paddling a dragon boat the week before race day. It’s
very similar to paddling a canoe, but ten people paddle while one teammate
is beating out a cadence on the dragon drum. Sounds like fun? It is!
It’s a fundraiser
for kids!
All the fun and excitement is for a good cause. Through our sponsors
and team pledges, the event is a major fundraiser for non-profit programs
and services for area youth. WE ARE RACING FOR THE KIDS. See our beneficiaries
page for more information.
It’s a festival
too.
Help celebrate our Asian-American and Southern cultures with music,
dance, food, exhibits, crafts, and a kids’ inflatable play area.
It’s a real unique family outing.
