HICKORY NUT GORGE OLYMPIAD

After the huge success of the the first two Lure of the Dragons events, the Hickory Nut Gorge Olympiad decided to add a Dragon Boat event to their games.
In 2010, the first event drew 14 local and regional teams.
The Olympiad event is Dragon Boat racing in its simplest form. No music, no arts & crafts, no magicians. Just up to 34 teams going head-to-head on the river.
Because we utilize the 30-foot, 10 paddler "small boats", many regional teams are able to split their crew into two teams; which allows for a friendly, yet exciting competition!

| The 8th Annual Hickory Nut Gorge Olympiad kicks off it's three-day event on Friday, August 24th, 2012. The Dragon Boat Races take place at Morse Park on the Rocky Broad on Saturday, August 25th. |

Practice sessions will begin two weeks before the event and are available for hour sessions from 9a-7p, Monday-Saturday.
There is no charge for practices inside the designated two-week practice time. However, we encourage practice and demos of Dragon Boating anytime during the year.
A fee of $20 per boat is charged for sessions outside of race events. |
